    Republic Commando 2
    April 1, 2006 by Kurgan

With E3, the annual electronic entertainment expo little more than a month away, already advance reports have come in of an exciting new title that many fans have long waited for. Yes, finally, what is tentatively being called 'Republic Commando 2' (working title) will be revealed at the convention. Apparently the new game will not be an expansion but a full sequel, and use a modified version of Unreal tech rather than a new engine, but we have been assured that it will take advantage of advancements such as more realistic physics, cheat protection and admin features as well as expanded multiplayer game modes.

We could get little detailed information, but apparently the storyline will pick up where the first game left off, and a character previously thought to have died in the first game will make a reapperance. A new feature was mentioned, that of a "trophy collection system" that will be implemented in single and multiplayer campaigns. As in the first game, you will be able to play as Trandoshans, but this time around, you can recruit them into your team. It is unknown if this refers to single player only, or multiplayer as well (and how it will be implemented).

LucasArts will be developing the title along with members of the original Republic Commando team, and the title will be for the PC. A port to the next generation Xbox 360 was also hinted at.

Will the new game feature drivable vehicles and AI bots in multiplayer? These elements were sorely missing from the first game and are expected nowadays in modern FPS games, so hopefully LucasArts is listening! We can only hope. Hopefully as E3 draws closer more information will be forthcoming. Look for further updates on this later in the day!

A big thanks to GreenHarvest who contributed to this report!
